The only skills that are profitable are gathering skills, processing skills are really only very rarely profitable. Even then, even the most profitable gathering skill pales in comparison to combat as a money making method.
Combat is where the money is at, doing any other skill for money just makes you look silly. Nothing is decently profitable these days except hardcore herb farming and PvM. It takes you about 4 minutes to leave a bank, do your herb run, and return to a bank.
I call that a wash. If you were somehow able to do herb runs, constantly, for an entire hour, with current price margins, it would net you less than 4m per hour. Yeah I pull over 5k gren spikes per hour consistently. Crafting gold bracelets is profitable, but it is bad xp and money. Gather harmonic dust through harps and get free xp.
