So you have an idea how long it'll take, I got it on my 8th statue. Comment by phrozensilver Hunters can tame these when they are summoned. You have to click on the cat figurines to summon them. They are not always summoned though. When they are tamed they have a "transparent" look to them WITHOUT the "prowl" ability. I would recommend being at least level 20 when doing this because it will randomly spawn as a level 19 or 20 and you cannot tame it if it spawns as level 20 and your only level The pets attack speed is 2.

Just click on the small cat statues. If you are lucky, then a Ghost Saber will appear and start attacking. If not, then you get a cat statue to put in your bag. It took 8 statues before I got my saber and luckily it was a 19! I just put Gift of Narruu on me before I clicked the statue and it heals me while the saber is beating on me during the taming process. A priest shield would work fine too. He comes with Claw 3 and is good to go into WSG.

After that I hit the auction house to upgrade gear. I also have a level 70 rogue so gold wasn't a problem. Next I checked on what cool pets there were to be tamed. I thought briefly about getting the ghostclaw ravager since I am alliance. But the ghost saber sounded cool too. Did a little research on how to get it and this is what I did. First off I felt a little allegiance to my initial pet "Scratch", a nightstalker I had tamed in the Draenei zones.

And who had gotten me to lvl So I stabled him. Right before I entered the area where you find the cat figurines I tamed one of the level 20 crabs found to the west to tank a bit. After using the crab to clear the area I approached the first cat figurine. Cast Gift of the Naaru to heal myself over time before clicking the figurine.

First one the Ghost Saber appeared. I immediately abandoned pet and cast tame pet. It did die after a few minutes but I cast revive pet and since then just fine. Submitted a screenshot so check it out. Other races should be fine. Just be at max health and if you have anything to heal over time or buff you for health or protection, cast before you click the figurine. I opened 10 that day, and my friend opened 10 and we got four cats, but each time they killed me. We tried together for around 2 hours yesterday and I spent around 6 hours on this alone Lol, talk about determined, I was a 19 that day, I leveled up to 20 though.

It'll give you plenty of time to abandon the temporary pet you're using to clear out the naga and get a head start on taming your saber. I had about half health when I tamed mine despite some crits and crushes.

Also make sure to switch to aspect of the monkey before you loot the figurines to avoid a blow or two. I noticed the pet died after about 5 mins as others reported, and when I revived him he was very unhappy just like any other death.

Don't forget to re-freed your pet after his initial death! Comment by Ikura Another winning pet, it took me about 30 minutes to grab him, I took a Ghostpaw Runner with me and we had to kill about fish people all together. I moved all along the outside of the perimeter killing them one at a time, and then moved into the center a bit. I only found 4 cat figurines. After 30 minutes or so I found the 4th one, cleared out the area and opened it, the Ghost Cat came out and started attaching us, I laid down a ice trap, backed up, he got caught, I said a sad farewell my Ghostpaw Runner and started taming.

Got him on the first try, man this guy eats a lot, but he looks and acts so cool. If you like collecting pets this one belongs in your stable for a fun run from time to time. I didn't have a hard time with my life while taming the cat, I am a twink in the making though so if you don't have blues I'd suggest dragging along a higher level hunter friend to freeze him.

Also did it with my alliance character - 14 figurines and about the same amount of naga died once and got him second shot around. Both characters were level 21 and in aspect of the monkey when trying to tame. With a freezing trap and Gift of the Naaru, it was pretty easy to get. Just make sure you keep all the clams that will drop from the Naga, you'll need them to feed the kitty twice since it dies and comes back unhappy again. Always drop a freezing trap to give you time to prepare should the saber spawn.

Eagle eye is your FRIEND. There are two spots along the edge large pit o' ruins in the center- a hill on the south end and a fallen column on the north end where you can see pretty much the whole area. While standing there, use eagle eye on random spots until you see a figurine.

I've never tried to level a pet from this low level before, but I had thought that they would gain XP from mobs their level. Nope, seems that they only get XP from mobs MY level, so to level this little lvl 20 pet I'm having to kill lvl mobs essentially without his help and I'm beastmaster spec.

Not really that hard, but tedious, slow, and I end up having to eat a LOT of food during the process. Got him up to lvl 25 last night in about an hour.

Hopefully I can get him to ish soon. I think at that point he should be able to hold aggro on the lowest level mobs that still give XP, which should speed up the process a lot. Comment by Frostythemage If you are a level 20 hunter trying to get this you will need help from a high level.

There are many guards around them and the figurines are hard to find. I am a lvl 19 horde and spawned one on my 14th try. Comment by salihte I have a Ghost saber named Fluffy and i would recommend any level hunter get one to. They are a random spawn and all you have to do is open up same cat figurines.

I was lucky and only hade to open up 3 before i got mine, but i know people that had to open up before one spawned. Comment by Tom I just got this pet not too long ago on my second figurine!! Stabled my current pet and got one of the crabs off the beach to help with the naga, once i saw the entering combat after i looted the figure i threw down a frost trap and abandoned really fast and started taming.

As a level 19 you could have difficulties as some of the spawns are level 20 and thus you wouldn't be able to tame it!

Can take a while to get a statue that spawns the cat so make sure you are all set when it does. Comment by Zandalar Level 25 and just got one of these meant to get it sooner. At 25 the Nagas are more of a nusiance than a problem, though they drop lots of clam meat so you have a nice food supply for you new pet. Fed him up good on clam meat and then after 5 minutes he did die. Quick res and 1 more feed and he was ready to start killing Nagas.

One of the coolest pets I could have hoped for.

Skulked around the ruins for two days, killing nagas and collecting 38 pet figurines including a one-shot that will also spawn a ghost saber to fight for a couple minutes before finally getting the saber to spawn. Tamed on the first try, though I will admit I was a little surprised at that point and had to ditch the temp pet now up to Best Friend and both of us lvl 19 fast.

Get to east side of ruins away from road and get up on hillock. Use Eagle Eye to spy around ruins until you find figurine respawn, then skirt ruins and kill nagas around the area to clear. Put your temp pet on Stay and Passive nearby. Make sure Dismiss Pet and Tame Beast are on an action bar. Switch to Aspect of the Monkey and drop a Freezing Trapthen click the figurine. You'll either get a little Cat Figurine stacks 20 per slota one-use Glowing Cat Figurine combat pet token not the Ghost Saber you are looking foror a Ghost Saber that will attack and stick in your freeze trap.

Dismiss the temp pet, start the tame beast and even with crits and crushes, you will finish the tame before it kills you. Feed to happy level before the spawn timer runs out and the pet auto-dies, so that when you raise pet it will only be a little unhappy.

It took me 8 cat figurines and one spawned on the 9th one. I basically ran circles around the Ruins grinding on nagas and looting cat figurines til one spawned. I used the Eagle Eye spell as often as possible. I had a "trash" pet with me. A breakdown of how I tamed mine: You'll loot many figurines a bazillion times plus 1 until a ghost saber spawns. Then pray to Jeebus you don't die because you have bad armor and the cat has Claw 3.

This is how i did it with 1st try with only 9 steps: Get at least lvl Get to the Ruins of Mathystra with another higher lvl hunter so he can help you spot a cat figurine safe and fast. Clear the place from all mobs around so you dont have any interrupts. Place 2 freezing traps, one in front of the figurine and the second one just behind the first. Summon the cat and quickly step back so that the 2 traps are between you and the figurine. As soon as cat gets spawn, it gets into first trap.

When first trap breaks the cat will fall into next trap. So you can complete the tame of the cat without even touching you. As soon as you tame the cat feed it till it's happy. After some minutes cat will die. It's ok dont worry, its because it despawns. Revive it and feed it again till its happy again.

Was I moving away too fast from the figurines? Is my Ice Trap bugging out the supposed-to-be-summoned mob? I just got really unlucky. It took me a grand total of 43 figurines before I got my Ghost Saber summoned. That's about 3 hours of grinding at 4 minutes per figurine. Anyway, so those of you getting disheartened, keep it up. He's already transparent; stack this with the transparent effect from Prowl, and most people probably won't see him even if he's standing right next to them! They'll hear the Stealth sound effect, but what will they see when they look for the Rogue or Cat Form Druid? Blizzard made it so that the Grimtotem Spirit Wolf is now untameable Because it was "Too Undead" for the Hunter class ; if they follow the same "logic", it's only a matter of time before they decide to make this baby untameable too.

But, hopefully, they will take the Diseased Black Bear and Plagued Swine off the list of tameable creatures first; these things are practically the ONLY "Beast" mobs that look Undead and are still tameable ironic, don't you think? Owls, Scorpids, Raptors, Boars, you name it With Prowl, he's almost complete invisible and really the only things you need with him as a BM spec is Claw and Dash.

Bite is a waste of TP, load up on resistances if you like to PVP and have at it. There is a low chance that when you click it a Ghost Saber is immediately spawned, then you just tame it. Most of the time you will loot a "cat figurine" which does nothing, so get rid of it.

Keep trying until you click one and it spawns a cat for your taming pleasure. There will be four little yellow lights pulsating clockwise around the Icon. How do I toggle the Autocast on and off? Right Click the Icon to make the lights disappear. This will turn autocast off. To toggle autocast on again simply right click the icon and the pulsating lights will reappear, indicating that autocast for that ability is now on again.

Hopefully this clears up the confusion or "bug" of cats autocasting or randomly casting prowl The default for a newly tamed cat is to have the prowl autocast enabled. There may still be bugs related to the prowl ability however make sure that you are using the autocast function properly. As horde, it's quite along run to Darkshore, I would recommend queuing for BFD, and then dying, spirit rezzing, and leaving group. Will save you minutes. One of the coolest pets you can get IMO not at just for a level 20 hunter but a cool pet over all. Another really cool feature is that it seems this cat doesn't need to be fed. I only had to click three cat figurines. So anyways, as you can see, the cat is see-through. It's very noticable in all lighting and gets lots of double-takes. I named mine 'Aeterna', which is latin for 'eternal'. I thought it was strangely fitting for a ghost, especially if these are retired in Cata. Darkshore is a heavily changed zone in the expansion, and I have seen videos of the area where the statuettes are, and I didn't spot any, and the area is changed considerably I will be updating with confirmation if I can.

Comment by GrizzlyUK Ghostsaber does still spawn in the current Cataclysm beta build. While working on the quests at the Ruins of Mathystra with my NElf hunter was lvl 16 at the time today 28th Sept. I found one of the cat figurines which spawned a lvl 19 Ghostsaber.

Once my hunter hit lvl 20 and I'd got my training done, I made the trip back to the Ruins to find more of the figurines. Took a bit of searching but eventually on the 3rd figurine a lvl 20 Ghostsaber spawned and was subsequently tamed. Some of the cat figurine spawn points seem to have been removed so you need to look around a bit. All the ones I found were on the coastal side of the Ruins. The cat prowls at all times except in combat. There is no button on the pet bar to turn off prowl, not sure why or if this option will appear at higher levels. Needless to say I stood there helpless while they killed my pet to be. I finally bagged another Ghost Saber on my 31st try and on the East side of the area. I took my lvl 21 Worgen Hunter back to the area yesterday and found the figurine in the camp. Yeah, not a smart place to try that. The ghost spawned and as reported, it was slaughtered. Going deeper into the area, I found another figurine that spawned the ghost as well.

The macro is broken up into chunks each chunk will require a separate macro be madeand each macro requires the player to be IN DARKSHORE for the macro to work. The macro has 15 locations non exhaustive for the Cat Figurine object and will help the player find them since the figurines are difficult to see as they do not stand our in any way from the terrain. I recommend searching by ground to find these figurines as it will be much more difficult to spot the figurines from the air.

Since it attacks right away, my stupid bird defended me, killing the kitty in one shot! I then found it again on my fourth figurine checked, amidst a bunch of alliance NPCs I'm hordewhere I instantly began taming it. All was well until a couple of those NPCs decided to come attack the cat, interrupting my tame! I carefully killed them both, and began to tame the Ghost Saber again. I gave that cat "bloodthirsty" and set him to aggressive where he went nuts on those allies and came back to me happy: I love the fact that when he prowls, he's virtually invisible.

I found mine mostly along the borders of the camp. One figurine spawn spot was by the PvP NPCs in the area, and the rest were by friendly NPCs. Not sure if that was just how it worked out for me or if it's usual to find more figurines by your faction NPCs. When you get that lucky figurine, Ghost Saber will instantly spawn and start attacking you, so you don't have to wonder where he'll be. I was worried he'd spawn off aways and I'd miss him, but he'll be right there with you.

On looting the 8th cat figurine container and the cat figurine within, the Ghost Saber automatically spawned and started attacking me. Being a lvl 85 hunter, it was easy to tame. Pet slots, though you will have to wait a while. You get 1 at 10 when you learn to control your pet. The cool thing about the pet slots is that as long as you have 2 slots or more, you can simply keep a slot free by stabling your extra pet s. So you keep your pet out. Then when you think it's safe, simply dismiss the pet, find your new pet, and tame it.

The new pet you tame will go in the first free slot you have. At present there is a bug where taming new pets in the higher slots can cause pets in the lower slots to become unspecced.
